About the position

Quest Diagnostics is seeking Phlebotomists for full-time and part-time positions in Frederick, Maryland. The role involves collecting specimens, administering oral solutions, and ensuring accurate data entry and billing. Phlebotomists will also be responsible for maintaining logs, assisting with training, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. This position requires flexibility in hours and travel to various locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and biometric screenings.
  • Administer oral solutions as per training.
  • Research test/client information and verify orders using lab technology systems.
  • Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration and test orders.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required.
  • Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, and splitting as required by test orders.
  • Perform clerical duties such as inventory management and answering phones when needed.
  • Comply with departmental policies and ensure staff adherence to instructions.
  • Verify patient demographic information post-venipuncture.
  • Assist with monthly statistics and data compilation.
  • Maintain phlebotomy logs in a timely manner.
  • Complete training courses to stay updated on phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to off-site meetings as required.
  • Participate in special projects and teams.
  • Distribute technical information to the work group.
  • Perform Point of Care (POC) testing as needed and complete training evaluations.
  • Act as a mentor and resource for new employees.
  • Assist with inventory counts and report shortages.
  • Prepare schedules for the assigned workgroup.
  • Communicate professionally with clients to resolve issues and document problems.
  • Ensure safety precautions are followed by staff.
  • Assist supervisors with implementing SOPs for phlebotomy services.
  • Maintain cleanliness and repair of facilities.

Requirements

  • Three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends and holidays.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
