About the position

The Phlebotomist I position at AdventHealth Tampa is a part-time role focused on collecting and processing blood specimens from patients. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and compliance with health regulations while contributing to the overall mission of providing high-quality healthcare services.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens through venipuncture and skin puncture practices.
• Prepares blood samples for laboratory analysis.
• Sends specimens to reference laboratories for additional testing, as necessary.
• Registers patients and interprets and orders physicians' test requests.
• Identifies and bands patients for blood product transfusion.
• Ensures pre-authorization and completes appropriate consent forms prior to collection of limited coverage tests.
• Maintains proper documentation, including accessioning logs, equipment records, and checklists.
• Maintains adequate supply inventories and ensures supplies are viable prior to use for patient collection.

Requirements

• High School Education or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification if required by facility.
