About the position

The Phlebotomist II position is a part-time role located in Lake Jackson, Texas, requiring work from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM, with rotational weekends. The role involves collecting specimens according to established procedures, administering oral solutions, and processing specimens. Candidates must be able to navigate a computer and accurately enter data, as well as perform non-patient facing duties such as inventory management and compliance with departmental policies. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required, with exemptions considered for medical and religious reasons upon a conditional offer of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and biometric screenings.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders.
  • Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required.
  • Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport.
  • Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and utilizing email.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner.
  • Complete online and in-person training courses timely.

Requirements

  • Three years phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
