About the position

The Phlebotomist II position in McKinney, TX, is a full-time role requiring employees to work Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This position involves collecting specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams. Candidates must be able to administer oral solutions, research test/client information, and confirm and verify orders using lab technology systems. The role also includes processing specimens, maintaining logs, and performing non-patient facing duties such as inventory management and data entry. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required, with exemptions considered for medical and religious reasons upon a conditional offer of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and biometric screenings.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems.
  • Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
  • Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required.
  • Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport as required by test order.
  • Perform non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and utilizing email as appropriate.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
  • Complete online and in-person training courses timely.

Requirements

  • Three years phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
