About the position

The Phlebotomist III Site Lead at Quest Diagnostics in Humble, TX, is responsible for leading daily operations at a Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP) site. This role involves drawing quality blood samples, ensuring accurate specimen preparation, and providing exceptional customer service. The Site Lead will mentor and train new employees, manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment, and maintain compliance with established procedures while fostering a trusting atmosphere with patients.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and biometric screenings.
  • Administer oral solutions as per training.
  • Research test/client information and verify all orders using lab technology systems.
  • Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration and test orders.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information.
  • Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, and splitting as required by test orders.
  • Perform clerical duties such as inventory management and answering phones when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures, and verify patient demographic information post-venipuncture.
  • Assist with monthly statistics and maintain phlebotomy logs in a timely manner.
  • Complete training courses to stay updated on phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to meetings as required and participate in special projects.
  • Act as a mentor and resource for new employees, assisting with onboarding and familiarization with procedures.
  • Prepare schedules for the assigned workgroup or PSCs and communicate professionally with clients to resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician
  • 5 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections
  • Strong customer service skills
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Data entry experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical assistant or paramedic training
  • Experience in a Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-Office (IOP) environment
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment
