About the position
The Phlebotomist position at WellSpan Health involves performing various duties related to specimen procurement and processing in an inpatient setting. The role requires working part-time during day shifts, primarily from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with a rotation every third weekend and holiday. The phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting specimens, maintaining quality control, and ensuring accurate data entry while providing excellent service to patients and healthcare staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of duties in specimen procurement and processing under varying degrees of supervision.
- Operate point of care laboratory instruments and perform quality control procedures.
- Transcribe orders and receive specimens into the laboratory, processing and delivering them as needed.
- Collect specimens using appropriate equipment and provide instructions to patients.
- Enter or retrieve data from established computer files and resolve billing problems.
- Maintain established policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.
- Participate in educational programs and maintain required records and reports.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Less than 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Good communication and computer skills.

- Certified Phlebotomy Technician - ASCP upon hire preferred.
- Basic Life Support upon hire preferred.
- Medical Terminology upon hire preferred.
- Phlebotomy Program upon hire preferred.
