About the position

The Phlebotomist/Lab Technician at STG International is responsible for providing phlebotomy services and administrative support at a Community Based Outpatient Clinic. This role involves performing various blood collection techniques, ensuring proper patient processing, and maintaining laboratory standards. The technician will also provide clerical support and assist in patient education regarding specimen collection procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of phlebotomist duties including venipuncture and finger-stick procedures.
• Conduct patient in-processing prior to specimen collection and assist with paperwork.
• Assemble necessary equipment for blood collection procedures.
• Verify patient identity and conduct interviews to ease patient concerns.
• Provide technical oversight and training for invasive procedures in the laboratory.
• Document all samples obtained according to laboratory standards and maintain cleanliness of the work area.
• Perform administrative and clerical support in various areas of the clinic as needed.
• Provide instruction on patient-centered specimen collection and special requirements for laboratory specimens.
• Demonstrate knowledge of phlebotomy techniques for different age groups and handle patient reactions appropriately.
• Provide general clerical support for the unit.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a phlebotomist.
• Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician from ASCP or AMT.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and patient reactions to procedures.
• Exceptional communication skills and experience in customer service.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.

Nice-to-haves

• Medical assistant certification or LPN/LVN certification preferred.
• College degree preferred.
