About the position

The Phlebotomist (Mobile) position at WellSpan Health involves performing a variety of duties related to specimen procurement and processing in both on-site and off-site service areas. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including potential on-call responsibilities, and may involve occasional supervisory duties in the absence of a supervisor. The position is full-time, primarily during day hours, with a rotation for weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of duties at progressively greater skill levels under varying degrees of supervision, recording results.
  • Operate point of care laboratory instruments and perform quality control and instrument check procedures.
  • Transcribe orders and receive specimens into the laboratory, processing and delivering specimens as needed.
  • Collect specimens using appropriate equipment and provide instructions to patients and customers.
  • Enter or retrieve data from established computer files and resolve billing problems or receive insurance updates.
  • Answer telephones, route callers, and provide routine information to callers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles for the assigned patient population and provide appropriate care.
  • Comply with safety regulations and participate in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  • Maintain established policies and procedures, quality assessment, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Assist in the care and maintenance of the laboratory work area and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Less than 1 year of relevant experience required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician - ASCP upon hire preferred.
  • Basic Life Support upon hire preferred.
  • Medical Terminology upon hire preferred.
  • Phlebotomy Program upon hire preferred.
  • Good communications and computer skills.
