About the position

The Phlebotomist will work in a fast-paced environment, which may involve considerable walking and physical assistance for patients. The position demands strong clinical skills, adaptability, and accuracy in performing venipunctures and handling patient information. The Phlebotomist will also be responsible for maintaining infection control and safety protocols, as well as ensuring that all procedures are conducted in accordance with established guidelines. This role is essential in supporting the overall healthcare services provided by PIH Health, which includes a variety of specialties such as heart, cancer, digestive health, orthopedics, women's health, urgent care, and emergency services.

Responsibilities

  • Draw blood from patients with minimum discomfort and pain.
  • Perform various blood and chemical analyses as required.

  • Assist patients physically when necessary, ensuring their comfort and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an approved phlebotomy training program.
  • Current venipuncture certificate and license required.
  • Current BLS Certification by AHA is mandatory.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory at a multi-specialty clinic is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control, and safety protocols is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with considerable walking.
  • Good visual acuity and motor coordination are necessary.
  • Strong clinical skills and adaptability are required.
  • Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions are needed.
  • Strong computer skills, including data entry and typing, are essential.
