About the position
This position serves as a liaison for a diverse range of laboratory customers, responsible for procuring quality specimens from patients of all ages for diagnostic testing. The role involves ensuring compliance with various guidelines and performing EKGs on outpatients as needed. Additionally, the position requires effective communication with customers to gather necessary data for service and billing, as well as resolving any issues that may arise.
Responsibilities
- Procure quality specimens from adult, geriatric, pediatric, and infant patients for diagnostic testing.
- Perform EKGs on outpatients as required.
- Make and receive telephone calls to/from customers to gather data for service and billing.
- Answer customer questions and resolve issues related to laboratory services.
- Complete documentation to meet OIG compliance guidelines, including accurate interpretation and transcription of physician orders.
- Enter patient demographics and test orders using LIS/HIS systems.
- Label specimens and distribute them to the appropriate lab departments for testing.
Requirements
- High School Degree or GED
- 1-2 years experience in Phlebotomy
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
