Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection from adult and pediatric patients using various techniques.
• Identify and label specimens appropriately.
• Instruct patients on urine and stool collection procedures.
• Enter accessioning data into the computer.
• Prepare specimens for send-out testing.
• Inventory supplies and prepare phlebotomy stations for effective blood collection.
• Attend required meetings for professional growth and development.
• Perform EKG, Holter Monitor, and Spirometry procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
• Provide surgical scheduling and financial instructions to patients.

Requirements

• Certification from an accredited phlebotomy diploma program.
• 1+ years of phlebotomy experience (additional education may substitute for experience).
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques for specimen collection.
• Understanding of EKG and spirometry procedures.
