Phlebotomist PRN

About the position

The Phlebotomist PRN position at Medical City Arlington involves performing phlebotomy procedures to obtain specimens for laboratory testing. This role is essential in ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing, contributing to the overall quality of patient care. The position requires interaction with patients, clerical duties, and collaboration with laboratory staff.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• Draw blood specimens from patients using finger sticks, heel sticks, or venipunctures.
• Label specimens accurately for identification purposes and enter specimen data into the computer.
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.
• Assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required or certification through a clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experience.
• Skilled phlebotomy technique; BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Acute care hospital experience is strongly preferred.
