About the position

The position involves collecting laboratory specimens and recording cardiac tracings according to TCH standards. Responsibilities include completing demographic and financial documentation for all patients in compliance with TCH registration standards. The role requires specialized knowledge and skills in phlebotomy and ECG procedures, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Collect laboratory specimens following TCH laboratory standards.
• Record cardiac tracings following TCH Cardiology standards.
• Complete demographic and financial documentation on all patients following TCH registration standards.
• Perform venipunctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, and IVY bleeding time studies.
• Adhere to safety policies regarding specimen collection.
• Assist with clerical duties and patient reception as needed.
• Perform routine ECGs following Cardiology procedure standards.
• Maintain work area according to cleaning schedule and stock supplies.
• Attend department and technical meetings to stay current with changes.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Medical experience preferred.
• One year minimum phlebotomy experience preferred.
• One year minimum ECG experience desirable.
• Knowledge and skill to perform phlebotomy procedures and ECGs.
• Ability to recognize life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias.
• Basic math aptitude for timing interval computations.
• Manual dexterity to handle equipment such as test tubes, needles, and ECG monitoring equipment.
• Visual acuity to read orders, labels, and assess ECG tracings.

Nice-to-haves

• Formal phlebotomy training preferred.
• Formal ECG training preferred.
