About the position

The Phlebotomist I position is responsible for drawing quality blood samples from patients and preparing those specimens for lab testing. This role requires direct interaction with patients, ensuring a safe and professional environment while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in patient information. The position emphasizes leadership behaviors and process excellence, with a focus on providing quality service in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing.
• Explain procedures to patients and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
• Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties accurately and on time.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients and the public.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in phlebotomy.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
• One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
