About the position
The Phlebotomy/Processing Coordinator at Miami Valley Hospital South is responsible for overseeing the daily workflow of support services in hospital-based laboratories across multiple regions. This role involves coordinating phlebotomy and processing activities, managing staff schedules, and ensuring compliance with laboratory policies and procedures. The position requires a strong focus on teamwork, communication, and operational efficiency within a clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain proficiency as Phlebotomist/Processor III.
- Coordinate and oversee daily workflow in phlebotomy and processing areas.
- Create and manage staff schedules and vacation calendar.
- Provide expert knowledge to support staff, promoting teamwork and a positive environment.
- Collaborate with technologists and management to ensure compliance with lab policies and procedures.
- Load specimens onto laboratory instruments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in support areas.
- Assist in training and orientation of new employees and maintain competency assessments.
- Perform all duties of a hospital phlebotomist/processor.
- Work at other locations and perform specific job duties as assigned.
- Carry out clinical and administrative tasks, including workload recording, supply management, and policy updates.
- Ensure regulatory compliance for laboratory operations and support hospital committee requests as approved.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy/processing experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong client service and customer satisfaction abilities.
- Ability to multitask and maintain focus amidst interruptions.
- Capable of meeting deadlines and timetables.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
