Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and other specimen collection techniques as per laboratory guidelines.
- Promote professionalism and foster a cooperative working environment with colleagues.
- Ensure specimens are obtained and handled according to established protocols.
- Communicate effectively with care providers regarding patient data and laboratory results.
- Support organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Maintain competency and follow procedural directions and protocols.
- Prioritize workload and assist colleagues to maintain productivity.
- Follow proper protocols for specimen packaging and transport.
- Responsible for specimen accessioning as assigned.
- Practice proper infection control, patient identification, and specimen transport.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program.
- Certification from a nationally recognized agency.
- Experience working in a clinical setting.
