About the position

The Phlebotomy Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the functions of Patient Services, which include Mobile Phlebotomy, In-Office Phlebotomy, and Patient Service Centers. This role involves managing daily operations, training personnel, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining a safe and professional environment across all supervised facilities. The supervisor will also be involved in performance evaluations, staff development, and budget management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of all assigned facilities, including PSCs, mobile, and in-office phlebotomy.
  • Implement SOPs for phlebotomy services in accordance with Quest Diagnostics guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State & local licensure requirements.
  • Complete and review Laboratory testing QA/QC documentation as required.
  • Oversee safety, maintenance, and cleanliness of facilities.
  • Perform site visits at all assigned PSCs/IOPs and mobile phlebotomy sites and document findings.
  • Conduct QA audits and ensure adequate supervision during site visits.
  • Manage the relocation, opening, and closing of PSCs, IOPs, and RRLs.
  • Oversee inventory processes for supervised facilities.
  • Participate in the interview, selection, and hiring of new employees.
  • Train, coach, supervise, and develop staff.
  • Monitor ongoing performance of employees and provide corrective action as needed.
  • Conduct mid-year and annual performance appraisals.
  • Hold regular meetings to disseminate information to staff.
  • Ensure employees meet driving requirements for company business.
  • Track and enter time/attendance of employees and prepare schedules with minimal overtime.
  • Prepare month-end reports and may perform training and onboarding of new clients.
  • Investigate, resolve, and respond to customer complaints effectively.
  • Ensure implementation of Quest improvement and standardization initiatives.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget and maintain budget control throughout the year.
  • Participate in process improvement teams and lead projects within the workgroup and cross-functional groups.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years prior supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Minimum five years' experience in phlebotomy, laboratory, or other healthcare environments.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Valid Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification.

Nice-to-haves
