About the position

The position involves performing patient identification, venipuncture/capillary collection techniques, and specimen labeling. The individual will also be responsible for specimen processing functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Special phlebotomy procedures must be performed correctly, and the candidate should demonstrate initiative and leadership qualities. Compliance with Laboratory Safety Policies and Procedures is essential, along with adequate knowledge of the hospital and laboratory computer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Correctly performs patient identification, venipuncture/capillary collection technique, and specimen labeling

  • Demonstrates adequate knowledge of the hospital and laboratory computer systems

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current driver's license with no major driving citations and able to be covered under AMC auto insurance required

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Phlebotomy by ASCP (or other nationally recognized certification agency) or completion of AS degree in Medical Laboratory Technician program preferred
  • At least one year phlebotomy experience preferred
