About the position
The Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for the collection of blood and non-blood specimens, ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures. This role involves performing venipunctures and skin punctures, labeling specimens accurately, and operating basic laboratory equipment. The technician will also communicate effectively with patients and staff, and perform clerical duties as needed.
Responsibilities
- Draw blood competently and expediently with minimal patient discomfort for various patient groups.
- Label all specimens in the presence of the patient.
- Operate basic laboratory equipment such as centrifuges and computer systems.
- Communicate effectively with patients, clients, and staff.
- Perform clerical duties including filing, report distribution, and processing.
- Collect drug screens using the Chain of Custody Process.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Phlebotomy Certification (CPT) preferred.
- Six months of phlebotomy experience preferred.
