About The Position

The Phlebotomy Technician at Saint Alphonsus Health System is a part-time role focused on collecting blood samples, identifying patients, and managing laboratory specimens. The technician will work in a mixed shift schedule, including alternating weekends, and will utilize their phlebotomy skills to support the medical center's operations in Nampa, Idaho.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and hospital staff.
• Good working knowledge of medical terminology and computers.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Experience in phlebotomy in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients of all ages.
• Correctly identify patients prior to sample collection.
• Transport specimens to the laboratory.
• Perform clerical and computer functions related to specimen processing.
• Register and order laboratory tests as needed.
• Label and process specimens for laboratory testing.
• Maintain quality and quantity of specimens sent to reference laboratories.
• Report results received from laboratories.
