About the position

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Photo Editor to join our fast-paced editorial team. This role involves collaborating closely with the editorial team to source, select, and deliver high-quality images for specific products or licenses. The Photo Editor will also work with the Digital Asset Manager to maintain and organize a growing archive of digital assets, ensuring consistency and accessibility. Additionally, the role includes managing all aspects of incoming photo shoots and overseeing the workflow from shoot to delivery, requiring a deep understanding of editorial processes and production deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the editorial team to source, select, and deliver images for specific products or licenses.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Asset Manager to maintain and organize the digital archive, troubleshooting any inconsistencies.
  • Oversee and manage the workflow of all incoming photo shoots, ensuring adherence to IPTC guidelines and new workflow strategies.
  • Ensure all images meet the editorial standards and align with the publication's visual style and guidelines.
  • Review and, if necessary, edit raw photo assignments to meet the needs of the editorial team.
  • Communicate regularly with photographers and the broader editorial team to ensure timely delivery of all assets.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a photo editor.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in photo editing software and tools (PhotoShelter, Photo Mechanic, Photoshop, FTP, etc.).
  • A keen eye for selecting high-quality images with significant sport expertise.
  • Familiarity with IPTC guidelines and best practices in handling digital assets.
  • Prior experience in an editorial role, with a strong understanding of production deadlines and the need for constant communication with the team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in maintaining and organizing digital archives.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and comfortable working collaboratively within a team.
