About the position

Telemundo T33 Sacramento is seeking a talented Photographer/Editor who will play a crucial role in producing high-quality visual content for our news stories. In this position, you will be responsible for shooting and editing various stories, including spot news and feature segments. The ideal candidate will work directly with the News Director and collaborate closely with the Assignment Desk Manager and Executive Producer to ensure that all content meets our high standards of quality and relevance. As a Photographer/Editor, you will utilize your creative skills and technical expertise to capture compelling visuals that tell a story. You will operate cameras, live trucks, and cellular bonded technology, and edit footage using Edius Pro edit systems. Your ability to respond quickly to breaking news and take direction from the assignment desk, reporters, and production team will be essential in this fast-paced environment. You will be expected to shoot and edit high-quality video, conduct interviews, and create engaging story packages that resonate with our audience. In addition to your technical skills, you will need to set up and operate microphones, monitor audio levels, and manage lighting equipment effectively. The role requires you to perform under pressure, meet multiple daily deadlines, and collaborate with field producers and correspondents on various assignments. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting any technical issues that arise in the field, ensuring that all equipment functions smoothly during shoots. Other duties may be assigned as needed, making adaptability and a proactive approach key attributes for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Shoot and edit high-quality video, interviews, and story packages.
  • Set up and operate microphones and monitor audio levels.
  • Set up and operate lighting equipment.
  • Respond quickly to breaking news while taking direction from the assignment desk and production team.
  • Collaborate with field producers and correspondents on assignments.
  • Gather video and interviews independently as needed.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in the field.
  • Perform work under pressure with multiple daily deadlines.
  • Operate camera, live truck, or cellular bonded technology and edit on Edius Pro edit systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a photographer.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) both written and verbal.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Creative storyteller capable of producing engaging and entertaining content.
  • Thorough understanding of technology as it relates to non-linear editing and HD photography.
  • Proficient in HD lighting, HD videography, non-linear editing with Avid & Final Cut, Dalet editing, microwave truck operations.
  • Familiarity with new technologies such as Live U transmission, Dejero, Go Pro cameras, and Latakoo file sharing camera equipment.
  • Knowledge of Grass Valley Group Vibrint and Edius or other computer-based editing.
  • Strong understanding of computer/IT workflows.
  • Familiarity with social media.
