About the position

The Photographer Videographer position at the University of Houston involves researching, conceiving, and capturing high-quality images and videos that represent the university's identity and activities. Responsibilities

  • Researches, conceives, and photographs portraits, architecture, and campus life for department publications.
  • Manages photography for institutional and presidential requests and serves as a liaison for outsourced photography projects.
  • Oversees the photographic component of all publications, advertising, and university collateral from concept to completion.
  • Works with the art director and graphic designers to translate marketing objectives into creative executions.
  • Monitors university advertising for adherence to photographic branding and standards.
  • Consults with clients to evaluate individual project needs and collaborates with designers to shoot suitable imagery.
  • Serves as a photography liaison with outside entities as needed.
  • Makes recommendations for the best approach to photographic assignments.
  • Provides video, audio, and high-resolution still photography in the studio and on location.
  • Edits and formats multimedia images using state-of-the-art equipment and software.
  • Provides assistance and training on photographic and multimedia equipment to interns and staff.
  • Researches, recommends, and utilizes new technologies for media and publications.
  • Maintains media equipment, facilities, supplies, and archives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of photography and videography.
  • Experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Strong service leadership skills including mutual respect, active listening, and responsiveness.
  • Ability to multi-task, stay organized, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures clearly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
