About the position

The Photographer Videographer 3 position within Enrollment Services at the University of Houston involves a multifaceted role that encompasses both photography and videography. The primary responsibilities include researching, conceiving, and capturing high-quality images of portraits, architecture, and campus life for various departmental publications, both in print and electronic formats. This role requires managing photography for a wide range of institutional and presidential requests, acting as a liaison for outsourced photography projects, and ensuring that all photographic components of publications, advertising, and university collateral are managed from concept to completion. In collaboration with the art director and graphic designers, the Photographer Videographer will translate marketing objectives into creative visual executions. This includes monitoring university advertising to ensure adherence to photographic branding and standards. The position also involves consulting with clients to assess individual project needs and working closely with designers to produce imagery that aligns with project requirements. Additionally, the role requires serving as a photography liaison with external entities when necessary and making recommendations for the best approaches to photographic assignments. The successful candidate will provide video, audio, and high-resolution still photography both in the studio and on location. They will also be responsible for editing and formatting multimedia images using state-of-the-art equipment and software. Furthermore, the position includes providing assistance and training on photographic and multimedia equipment and related software to interns and staff as needed. The Photographer Videographer will research, recommend, and utilize new technologies for media and publications while maintaining media equipment, facilities, supplies, and archives. Other job-related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, conceives and photographs portraits, architecture and campus life for department publications both print and electronic.
  • Manages photography for a myriad of institutional and presidential requests and serves as university liaison for outsourced photography projects.
  • Manages the photographic component of all publications, advertising and university collateral from concept to completion.
  • Works in tandem with art director and graphic designers to translate marketing objectives in creative executions.
  • Monitors university advertising for adherence to photographic branding and standards.
  • Consults with clients to evaluate individual project needs; works with designers and clients to shoot imagery best suited to project needs.
  • Serves as photography liaison with outside entities, as needed.
  • Makes recommendations for the best approach to photographic assignments.
  • Provides video, audio and high resolution still photography in the studio and on location.
  • Edits and formats multimedia images using state-of-the-art equipment and software.
  • Provides assistance and training on photographic and multimedia equipment and related software to interns and staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of directly related job experience.
  • Higher Education experience is preferred.
  • Service leadership skills including mutual respect, active listening, and responsiveness.
  • Ability to multi-task, stay organized, and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
