This role is integral to capturing the essence of Ventura County through compelling visual storytelling. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of newsworthiness, a passion for storytelling, and the drive to secure the best shots in various settings, including breaking news, sports, features, profiles, enterprise stories, and investigations. The photographer/videographer will be responsible for producing high-quality photos and videos for print, digital, and social media platforms, ensuring that the content is engaging and informative for our audience. The successful candidate must be a self-starter with a keen eye for detail and creativity, capable of identifying and pursuing compelling visual stories. This role requires the ability to write clear and accurate captions to accompany visual content. Collaboration with newsroom colleagues is essential, as is the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The position also offers the opportunity to work in a beautiful coastal location, with easy access to Los Angeles, Malibu, Santa Barbara, and the Central Coast, making it ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor activities and a mild climate. Additionally, the candidate should be knowledgeable about key social media platforms and willing to support their use in promoting our content. Proficiency in photo and video editing software is required, along with experience in shooting and editing with smartphones.
