About the position

The Ventura County Star is seeking a dynamic photographer/videographer to capture compelling visual stories across Ventura County. This role involves producing high-quality photos and videos for various platforms, including print, digital, and social media. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of urgency, creativity, and the ability to connect with local audiences while working collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Create quality multimedia storytelling using photography, videography, and text that informs, entertains, and engages the audience.
• File photos, produce galleries, and turn out video in a timely fashion.
• Assist newsroom colleagues with basic photo and video editing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or equivalent experience and education.
• At least two years of experience with professional photography and videography on multiple platforms.
• Proficiency in photo and video editing software, such as Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and related programs.
• Experience shooting and editing with a smartphone.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressure.
• Flexibility and availability to work nights and weekends.
• Knowledge and willingness to support key social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, TikTok).
• Command of journalism law and principles of ethical conduct.
• A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurance as required by state law.
