About the position

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Photographer/Videographer to join the Visual Communications team in INL's External Engagement & Communications directorate. Our team works an on-site 9x80 schedule on the Idaho Falls campus with every other Friday off! You will develop visual content for laboratory-wide employee communications related to laboratory values, strategy, performance, and employee programs, policies, and tools. This role requires applying imaginative and creative ideas, designs, or artistic work for a variety of laboratory goals. You will also contribute content and strategic input for external communications, public relations, and marketing efforts to inform partners, sponsors, elected officials, collaborators, news media, and the public. This is a One-year Project hire with the expectation to convert to regular, full-time employment. You will report to the Labwide Communications Services Manager and will not have managerial responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the creation of internal and external communication efforts or products.
  • Consult on standard methodologies for sharing our successes to help its experts create and tailor their messages to effectively reach target audiences.
  • Ensure agreement on INL and Department of Energy expectations regarding branding, messaging, awareness, and approvals.
  • Assist with photo and video shoots as needed including prepping and transporting gear, assisting with setup and take down, staging, set prep etc.
  • Take headshots/portraits under the direction of the lead photographer.
  • Perform minor edits under the direction of the lead photographer or videographer.
  • Edit video under the direction of lead videographer including prepping footage, audio sync, rough cuts, gathering b-roll and other assets.
  • Assist as a second camera on photo/video shoots.
  • Cover assignments as directed by lead photographer/videographer.
  • Help with pre-production and post tasks like stock searches, music searches and others.

Requirements

  • Level 1-Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Level 2-Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience or High School Diploma and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license - responsibilities include driving visitors in a government vehicle.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, sometimes on short notice, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'L' clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledgeable of theory, principles and practices related to photography.
  • Knowledge of field production techniques and standards.
  • Understanding of current digital photographic techniques and systems.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, After Effects and Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Familiarity with Canon EOS camera systems.
