About the position

The PHP and WordPress Developer position at the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR) involves supporting the restoration and stabilization of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences (NCMNS) website. The role requires diagnosing and repairing WordPress functionality issues, ensuring site stability, and providing maintenance recommendations. The successful candidate must be available immediately and may have the opportunity for a short extension to complete the work.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair issues related to the missing WordPress login PHP file, restoring login functionality for administrative and content management access.
• Identify and resolve issues preventing updates to static portions of the website, ensuring the ability to make live changes.
• Review the website's custom PHP code, outdated plugins, and legacy configurations, applying necessary fixes to stabilize the codebase.
• Make minor updates to improve website navigation and usability for the public, enhancing content management.
• Provide recommendations for maintaining the website's operability in the short term, including critical updates and proactive monitoring.
• Document all repairs, temporary fixes, and recommendations to ensure the NCMNS team can maintain functionality and address future minor issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of extensive experience with PHP Development (Required)
• 5+ years of experience with WordPress Development (Required)
• 5+ years of experience reviewing and diagnosing issues related to missing WordPress login PHP files (Required)
• 5+ years of experience restoring login functionality for administrative and content management access (Required)
• 5+ years of ability to identify and fix problematic custom PHP code, outdated plugins, and legacy configurations contributing to instability (Required)
• Strong problem-solving skills to assess and repair technical issues with WordPress and PHP code, including troubleshooting and debugging.
