About the position
NCDNCR is seeking an urgent and immediate PHP and WordPress Developer to restore and stabilize the NC Museum of Natural Sciences (NCMNS) website. The role involves diagnosing and repairing issues related to the website's functionality, ensuring that administrative and content management access is restored, and providing short-term maintenance recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair issues related to the missing WordPress login PHP file, restoring the login functionality for administrative and content management access.
- Diagnose and repair issues related to the inability to make live changes to the static portions of the site.
- Identify problematic custom PHP code, outdated plugins, and legacy configurations that contribute to website instability, applying fixes as necessary.
- Make minor updates to improve navigation and usability for public users and ease of content management.
- Provide guidance on maintaining the website's operability over the short term, including essential updates and monitoring for potential points of failure.
- Document any repairs, temporary fixes, or recommendations for the NCMNS team to maintain site functionality and address minor issues.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with PHP Development (5 years required).
- Experience with WordPress Development (5 years required).
- Experience reviewing existing code to diagnose and repair issues related to missing WordPress login PHP files (5 years required).
- Experience restoring the login functionality for administrative and content management access (5 years required).
- Ability to identify problematic custom PHP code, outdated plugins, and legacy configurations that contribute to website instability, applying fixes as necessary (5 years required).
