About the position

The PHP Developer role involves administering, supporting, and maintaining the Client In-house Automation and Guidance Engine tool, which is PHP-based. The position requires representing the Enterprise Monitoring team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in project meetings, providing technical support, and working closely with customers to implement solutions. The developer will also be responsible for maintaining documentation, supporting disaster recovery procedures, and identifying tasks for automation.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, support, and maintain the Client In-house Automation and Guidance Engine tool.
  • Represent the Enterprise Monitoring team as Automation and Guidance Engine SME in project meetings.
  • Provide advice, status updates, training, and technical support to stakeholders.
  • Work with customers to understand requirements and implement solutions using available tool sets and scripting languages.
  • Maintain design and support documents for all built solutions and processes.
  • Provide on-call administration and operations support.
  • Learn and resolve problems related to new technologies that impact the environment.
  • Support business disaster recovery procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Document duties and procedures for cross-training and absentee coverage.
  • Collaborate with technical engineering teams to manage and improve processes.
  • Identify tasks for automation and write necessary scripts.

Requirements

  • At least 5-8 years of programming experience.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with PHP coding and MySQL.
  • 5+ years of experience in PHP/MySQL Development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in creating and implementing applications using PHP, MySQL, Apache, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, and HTML.
  • Good knowledge of relational databases and version control tools.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git and SVN.
  • Advanced user level expertise in UNIX and/or Red Hat Linux.
  • Experience in maintaining existing code base, troubleshooting bugs, and adding new features.
  • Familiarity with database technologies like Oracle, SQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
  • Networking experience and knowledge of security.
  • Solid knowledge of operating systems, infrastructure software, computer hardware, and peripherals.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Good communication and strong people skills.
  • Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in environmental monitoring (3 years preferred).
  • Experience in test automation (3 years preferred).
