About the position

Island Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and experienced PHP Full Stack Web Developer with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience. The role involves working on diverse and challenging web development projects, requiring a strong understanding of both front-end and back-end technologies. The position is based in Granada Hills, CA, with the possibility of hybrid or remote work after a 90-day review period. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment and possess a passion for coding and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Interpret written business requirements and technical specification documents.
• Build and maintain core PHP and web-based applications.
• Recommend code and design optimizations to improve scalability and performance.
• Provide project estimates of turnaround time to set client and manager expectations.
• Program pre-designed web applications and websites.
• Perform quality control and test all output, identifying and resolving technical problems or security holes.
• Suggest and present solutions to programming and data management challenges.
• Gather and organize project requirements, code and test independently, and work jointly with the development team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or professional certification equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Full Stack Web Developer.
• Good working knowledge using Laravel or other similar web-application frameworks.
• Excellent knowledge of PHP, CSS preprocessors (Less, Sass, SCSS), and JavaScript.
• Experience with popular CSS frameworks for developing responsive applications such as Bootstrap, Foundation, and HTML5 Boilerplate.
• Experience with popular eCommerce platforms.
• Working knowledge of GIT or similar revisioning software.
• Practical experience working in Agile and project teams.
• Experience with WordPress, Drupal, and Square Space.
• Knowledge of accessibility (Section 508, WCAG) and usability best practices.
• Ability to construct SQL database schemas and SQL query commands.
• Excellent documentation and interpersonal skills.
• Practical knowledge of Test-Driven Development techniques.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs.
• Understanding of layout aesthetics.
• Basic experience with AWS and/or cloud computing.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with additional programming languages or frameworks.
• Familiarity with cloud services beyond AWS.
• Knowledge of advanced database management techniques.
