About the position

The PHY Systems Engineer - Mobility Control position at Apple involves working on mobility control features for 5G-NR and LTE as part of the Systems Engineering team. The role requires a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience in wireless communication systems, focusing on the development and optimization of hardware technology for next-generation mobile networks.

Responsibilities

  • Work on mobility control features for 5G-NR and LTE.
  • Collaborate with the Systems Engineering team to develop innovative solutions.
  • Conduct system-level simulations and data analysis using various programming languages.
  • Analyze and visualize data to support engineering decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 3+ years of industry experience.
  • Good understanding of 5G-NR or LTE standards, particularly RRC and PHY.
  • In-depth knowledge of Wireless Communication Systems.
  • Experience with Matlab, C/C++, Javascript, and/or Python for system-level simulation and data analysis.
  • Strong theoretical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in modem chipset design and bring up.
  • Familiarity with NR/LTE reference signal design and mobility behavior.
  • Understanding of key RRC signaling flows between UE and network.
  • Ability to make design tradeoffs considering power, performance, and complexity.
  • Understanding of performance impacts under external restrictions such as coexistence issues.
