Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital is a burgeoning rehabilitation system with 31 hospital partners across the state of Michigan. The flagship hospital is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan with 187 acute and subacute beds. Mary Free Bed is rated in the top 10 rehabilitation hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Mary Free Bed Medical Group has been retained by Valley Health to recruit a full-time experienced, dynamic individual with strong leadership skills to provide Physiatry Services for Winchester Rehabilitation Center located in the Shenandoah Valley and the 'Top of Virginia'. The Physiatrist will provide both inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring high-quality care and treatment for patients. This role requires collaboration with a treatment team and participation in various professional education sessions and community outreach programs. The Physiatrist will also be responsible for maintaining medical records, providing oversight and education for students and mid-level providers, and promoting the financial viability of the Winchester Rehabilitation Center. Call and weekend coverage is required, with a daily inpatient census of 18 patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of license, certification, or registration and as required by Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Provide professional medical services in the specialty of physiatry to patients of Winchester Rehabilitation Center, including inpatients and timely consultations at referring hospitals and facilities.
  • Maintain medical records in a timely fashion and cooperate with billing, peer review, and compliance programs.
  • Provide oversight and education for students, residents, and mid-level providers.
  • Maintain staff privileges at Valley Health and other hospitals, including duties required to maintain those privileges such as medical record completion and committee service.
  • Identify and promote opportunities for improvement of care and actively participate in Valley Health quality initiatives.
  • Monitor developments in the specialty field and promote new programs that meet new program criteria.
  • Provide medical leadership to the treatment team and promote harmonious and effective team functioning.
  • Enhance knowledge and understanding of capabilities and services among medical professionals and patient populations through participation in professional education sessions and community outreach.
  • Promote the financial viability of Winchester Rehabilitation Center.
  • Promote the development and dissemination of new knowledge, preferably in peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Board Certified or Board eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
  • State of Virginia Medical License
