About the position

The Physical Education/Health Teacher at Pine Hills Correctional Facility is responsible for providing educational instruction to adolescent and young adult males committed to the Department of Corrections. This role involves preparing classroom materials, adapting lessons to meet diverse student needs, assessing student progress, and ensuring a safe learning environment. The teacher will utilize various instructional methods to engage students and promote their physical and health education.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Instruct students through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations in physical education and health subjects.
  • Adapt lessons to accommodate changes in class size and student abilities.
  • Work individually with students to challenge and improve their skills.
  • Assess student progress by grading assignments, papers, exams, and other work.
  • Follow established policies and safety procedures in compliance with the Department of Corrections and Office of Public Instruction.
  • Participate in professional education and training opportunities to maintain licensure and teaching practices.
  • Assist in the development of physical education and health education programs using various teaching methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • State of Montana Teaching Credential (or ability to obtain by start date).
  • PE/Health endorsement.
