About The Position

The Physical Medicine Aide PRN Premium position involves preparing patients, equipment, and the treatment area for therapy sessions while maintaining an orderly department. The aide assists with transporting patients to and from therapy and supports therapists in handling patients during treatment, relying on established guidelines and working under close supervision.

Requirements

• 6 months experience in healthcare field OR coursework in healthcare field.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Good interpersonal/human relations skills.
• Good oral/written communication skills.
• Good teamwork skills.
• Good critical thinking/decision making skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform safe and correct transfers as confirmed by supervising therapist.
• Provide assistance with the transport of patients to and from therapy sessions daily.
• Assist therapists and assistants with patient treatment as instructed at all times.
• Monitor patients on equipment, positioning, ambulation, exercise, and ADL training.
• Set up CPM and place joint patients on CPM at the end of treatment for the day.
• Report any observed change of behavior/performance in a patient to the supervising therapist immediately.
• Use the designated chain of command to communicate work-related questions/concerns and present solutions/options for department concerns.
• Complete daily temperature checks on hydrocollators and ice pack equipment.
• Post treatment schedules daily in patient rooms.
• Prepare treatment tables with clean linen and exercise equipment each morning before treatment begins.
• Clean and return equipment to storage after use.
• Maintain a minimum of 3 full O2 canisters available each morning prior to treatment.
• Keep the work area neat and orderly according to policy and infection control guidelines.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the manager.
