About the position

This position is located within the Agricultural Research Service, Midwest Area, Peoria, Illinois. In this position, you will actively participate in one or more phases of the research process related to crops and pesticides by performing a variety of technical duties in a laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Collect, prepare, evaluate, and catalog crop samples.
• Maintain, calibrate, and modify specialized equipment used to analyze physical and chemical properties of crops.
• Tabulate, statistically analyze, and summarize data using software packages including Microsoft Suite.
• Keep detailed records of experimental data and follow Good Laboratory Practice standards.

Requirements

• You must be a US Citizen or US National.
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
• Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
• Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.
• Direct Deposit: Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
• Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.

• Experience assisting with collecting or preparing crop or plant samples in a field or laboratory environment.
