About the position

As a Physical Security Operations Center Analyst at Staples, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our physical assets and personnel. This position is part of our digital solutions team, which is not just a traditional IT organization but a collaborative and innovative group dedicated to providing customer-centric technology services. You will be responsible for continuously monitoring physical security systems, including surveillance cameras and access control systems, to detect and assess potential security threats. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you analyze physical security alerts and data from various sources to differentiate between genuine threats and false alarms. In addition to monitoring, you will conduct research and gather intelligence on potential incidents or risks, preparing detailed reports on your findings along with actionable recommendations. Coordinating rapid responses to security incidents will be a key part of your role, ensuring that all incidents are resolved in a timely and effective manner. You will collaborate with various departments, including IT, HR, and legal, to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to incident management. Documenting all physical security incidents and responses in detail will be essential for future reference and learning. Your responsibilities will also include regularly reviewing and updating physical security protocols to align with current threats and organizational changes. You will develop and implement physical security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Conducting regular risk assessments to identify potential security vulnerabilities and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies will be part of your routine tasks. Additionally, you will perform routine physical security audits to ensure compliance with established protocols and industry standards, liaising with external security agencies and vendors to enhance security collaboration. Effective communication with internal stakeholders will be vital to understand their security needs and address them appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor physical security systems, including surveillance cameras and access control systems, to detect and assess potential security threats.
  • Analyze physical security alerts and data from various sources to identify genuine threats and false alarms.
  • Conduct research and gather intelligence on potential incidents/risks, or post incidents; prepare reports on findings with recommendations.
  • Coordinate rapid response to security incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments (like IT, HR, legal) for a multidisciplinary approach to incident management.
  • Document all physical security incidents and responses in detail for future reference and learning.
  • Regularly review and update physical security protocols to align with current threats and organizational changes.
  • Develop and implement physical security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Recommend and implement appropriate mitigation strategies to reduce physical security risks.
  • Perform routine physical security audits to ensure compliance with established protocols and industry standards.
  • Liaise with external security agencies and vendors for enhanced security collaboration.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to understand their security needs.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Security Management, Criminal Justice, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of related experience in physical security or similar roles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced physical security systems and threat intelligence tools i.e. Everbridge, Ontic and Genetec.
  • Physical Security Professional (PSP) or Physical Security Certification (PSC), Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or similar.
  • Background in law Enforcement, Public Safety or Military.
  • Experience working in a General Security Operations Center (GSOC).
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex security incidents and investigations.
