About the position

The Security System Administrator (SysAdmin) role at Shel-Bar Electronic Industries Inc involves managing and integrating security systems for a large energy-related client. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in physical security systems, including access control and video management, along with strong customer service skills. The role is primarily office-based in Houston, Texas, with some remote work and travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to service requests focusing on servers, IT/Programming, and incident prevention.
  • Liaise with customers and internal technicians for scheduling and completion of work based on programming needs.
  • Perform programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities on access control, CCTV, intrusion alarm, and intercom systems.
  • Install and service IP-based and analog CCTV systems (Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon).
  • Build equipment system racks, pull cables, and prepare equipment for installation.
  • Assist with testing of system components to ensure system completeness and convention.
  • Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of electricity and electronics.
  • Write a variety of non-routine programs for systems.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of previous security Access Control systems experience required.
  • 2-year Associate degree in a technical field involving IT Network, Electronics or Computers preferred.
  • Genetec Certification is preferred; Lenel and Avigilon are assets.
  • Working knowledge of IT network systems.
  • Proficient with SQL and Windows OS.
  • Strong attention to detail and self-motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Great time management skills with experience in prioritizing tasks.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must pass a clean Criminal Record Background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with audio setup and video setup.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs.
