About the position

The Physical Therapist-Acute PRN position at Highpoint Health involves evaluating and conducting medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs. The role focuses on providing educational information to patients regarding injury prevention and rehabilitation, while also supervising physical therapy assistants and aides in their treatment efforts.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
• Establishes a plan of care appropriate to identified problems, involving the patient according to their capabilities and desires.
• Plans, prepares, and carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent dysfunction.
• Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques appropriate for the patient's age and condition.
• Directs and supervises physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel, assessing competence and delegating tasks.
• Administers treatment involving application of physical agents using equipment such as moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines.
• Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommends modifications.
• Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy - Required
• State of Tennessee Physical Therapist Licensure - Required
• BLS certification from approved American Heart Association or American Red Cross training center must be obtained within 90 days of employment, if not current upon hire.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree - Preferred
• One year experience as Physical Therapist - Preferred
