About the position

The Physical Therapist Assistant at Health by Design plays a crucial role in promoting and maintaining health by providing physical therapy and rehabilitation services under the supervision of a physical therapist. This position involves direct patient care, collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals to deliver effective treatment programs, and ensuring a safe and clean working environment. The role is well-supported and focuses on a value-based care model, primarily serving retired first responders in a state-of-the-art facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for patients referred to physical therapy.
• Evaluate abnormal conditions by reviewing physical therapist's interpretations of patient evaluations and test results.
• Document patient care services by charting patients and records.
• Perform therapeutic procedures by administering exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities.
• Help patients in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
• Instruct and counsel patients by describing therapeutic regimens and promoting wellness and health maintenance.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Maintain production objectives by noting current treatment trends and monitoring actual physical therapy services rendered to production objectives.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading periodicals, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
• Assist with review of referrals and scheduling of patients.

Requirements

• Current license issued by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners (TBPTE)
• BLS certification
