About the position

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at RWJBarnabas Health is responsible for implementing physical therapy treatments as directed by the Physical Therapist. This part-time position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective patient care and education. The PTA will engage in various administrative tasks, patient interactions, and therapy interventions to support the overall treatment plan and enhance patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Implement Physical Therapy treatment as directed by the Physical Therapist.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers using effective teaching methods.
• Identify and establish priorities for educational needs in collaboration with learners.
• Design and conduct educational activities to address identified needs.
• Assess the effectiveness of educational activities and report findings to the Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist.
• Perform administrative tasks including documentation, billing, and scheduling to support patient care.
• Document patient interactions accurately and appropriately.
• Schedule patients to maximize treatment outcomes and efficiencies.
• Perform therapy interventions competently and in accordance with the plan of care.
• Engage clients in problem-solving activities and modify approaches to maximize performance.
• Communicate patient outcomes and changes in status to the healthcare team.
• Coordinate care with other rehabilitation disciplines and communicate effectively with Case Managers.

Requirements

• Must meet basic professional entry-level educational requirements from an accredited physical therapist assistant program.
• NJ licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Successful completion of all orientation programs.
