About the position

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is responsible for conducting physical therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. This part-time position requires the PTA to implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals. The role emphasizes whole-person care, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive support for their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Responsibilities

• Conducts physical therapy under the supervision of a physical therapist.
• Implements an established treatment plan of care established by a Physical Therapist.
• Monitors patient response and progress to treatment and modifies treatment plan as appropriate in consultation with the Physical Therapist.
• Documents and charges accurately, completely, and timely using measurable and objective terminology.
• Educates patients, family members, and caregivers about identified needs and discharge recommendations.
• Communicates effectively with patients, family, and healthcare professionals across care settings.
• May oversee the care provided by therapy aides according to established regulations and practice standards.
• Meets productivity standards as defined by the department.
• Attends department meetings and education as required.
• Maintains clinical knowledge and supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
• Participates in marketing to build referral relationships and supports community awareness through events and educational lectures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained before starting patient care.
• Licensed in Kansas as a Physical Therapist Assistant or have a Temporary State permit as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Associate's Degree in a relevant field.
