About the position

As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation process, working closely with patients who have sustained injuries or disabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to implement treatment plans developed by licensed Physical Therapists, ensuring that each patient receives the highest quality of care tailored to their individual needs. In this position, you will interact with patients and their families, providing education on the use of therapeutic equipment, home exercise programs, and other techniques essential for recovery. You will also be responsible for administering various treatment modalities, including therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy, gait training, and wound care, all in accordance with the established care plan. Accurate documentation of patient progress and reactions to treatment is vital, as you will be required to maintain detailed records in the patient's medical file. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor and instruct Physical Therapy Assistant students and support staff, guiding them in delivering effective patient care. Your role will also involve counseling patients and their families on the use of assistive devices and home exercise techniques, ensuring they are well-prepared for their recovery journey after discharge from therapy services. Responsibilities

  • Interacting with patients and/or families to teach the use of equipment, home exercises, and other techniques important for in-patient care after discharge.
  • Establishing follow-up care that reflects the goals of the care plan developed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Administering treatment programs to assigned patients, including modality treatments, therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy, gait training, and wound dressing, in accordance with the plan of care.
  • Recording patient's reactions to treatment and progress in the patient care plan, ensuring daily and weekly notes are completed and filed in the patient's medical record.
  • Instructing and providing technical direction to Physical Therapy Assistant students, technicians, and attendants in performing patient care activities.
  • Counseling and teaching patients and/or families in the use of assistive devices and exercise techniques to be performed at home.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree from a Physical Therapy Assistant program (required).
  • Currently licensed in the state of employment as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Current Auto liability Insurance according to Company Policy.
  • Two (2) years of experience working as a PTA (preferred).
