About the position

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) position at CHRISTUS HomeCare involves providing treatment and exercise instruction to patients in a home health setting. The role emphasizes building trusted relationships with patients while adhering to established care plans and state regulations. The PTA will work independently and collaboratively with healthcare teams to enhance patient well-being and support their recovery process.

Responsibilities

• Perform treatment and provide exercise instruction and patient education to improve patient well-being.
• Follow state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care and adhere to the treatment plan defined by the supervising PT.
• Instruct and aid patients in various exercises, muscle re-education, gait training, and safety procedures.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment and changes in condition to the supervising PT and other healthcare team members.
• Coordinate care with other members of the healthcare team as appropriate.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members about therapy within the PTA's scope.

Requirements

• Current licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in the state of practice.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation.
• Must have one (1) year of experience as a licensed PTA in Texas.
