About the position

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides essential support in delivering physical therapy treatments as per the established care plans by physical therapists. This role involves recommending adjustments to treatment plans based on patient responses, maintaining a clean work environment, and supervising therapy volunteers. The PTA also handles clerical tasks and ensures safe transportation of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in staff meetings, development programs, and departmental committees.
  • Supervises clinical support staff per the Physical Therapy Practice Act.
  • Completes charge/statistical information to reflect services provided.
  • Provides comprehensive therapeutic interventions for all age groups based on physical therapist-developed programs.
  • Assists physical therapists in patient surveys within the scope of practice.
  • Maintains detailed written/electronic documentation of clinical services.
  • Rotates through treatment areas/facilities as needed.
  • Provides objective feedback to supervisors on department performance and emergencies.
  • Schedules to meet or exceed productivity standards set by the facility.
  • Implements treatment programs based on patient response and medical status, notifying the physical therapist of necessary plan changes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Physical Therapist Assistant program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association with an associates degree as a physical therapist assistant.
  • Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.
