About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant - Spine/Ortho will assist Physical Therapists in delivering therapeutic healthcare services to patients, primarily in an outpatient orthopedic setting. This full-time role requires flexibility to meet business demands, with working hours from 7 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, and a monthly Saturday rotation. The position involves direct patient interaction, particularly during aquatic therapy sessions, and requires effective communication and collaboration with the supervising Physical Therapist.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited PTA program or equivalent experience.
  • Currently licensed as Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of MN or state in which practicing.
  • Outpatient Orthopedic experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Pool Operator certification (training and certification will be provided).

Responsibilities

  • Provide treatment to patients as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Prepare and complete detailed and comprehensive daily notes reflecting treatments provided and time spent during appointments.
  • Notify supervising Physical Therapist of any change in patient status or poor tolerance to treatment.
  • Abide by TCO Aquatic therapy policy of patient recheck with primary PT after five sequential pool appointments or as needed.
  • Perform timely, effective, and collaborative communication with the primary Physical Therapist.
  • Use and set-up modalities including Ultrasound, Laser, Traction, E-stim, Iontophoresis, and other aquatic therapy equipment.
  • Provide indicated therapeutic massage and other manual therapy treatments as established in the therapy plan of care.
  • Observe patients and evaluate data on patient's progress.
  • Instruct families and/or caregivers on maintenance programs as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Perform PTA duties and provide direct, in-water, 1:1 patient interaction during Aquatic Therapy appointments.
  • Answer phones, order supplies, complete forms, and perform any other assigned duties.
