About the position

UPMC Cole is seeking a Casual/PRN Physical Therapist to provide therapy services across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and rural health clinics. This role involves working daylight hours with flexible start times and includes a rotation for weekends and holidays. The primary focus is on patient assessment, treatment planning, and documentation to enhance patient recovery and overall functioning.

Responsibilities

• Communicates patient's status to the referring physician and other health care team members.
• May serve as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students, residents, and fellows in a specialty area of physical therapy.
• Maintains professional license/registration through participation in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
• Performs physical therapy assessment, reassessment, and treatment, supervising physical therapist assistants in the treatment of patients.
• Develops a plan of care including goals and treatment plans based on physician referrals and assessment results.
• Modifies or adjusts the plan of care based on the patient's response to treatment and changes in status.
• Rotates through selected treatment areas to meet organizational needs.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service education programs.
• Maintains written documentation for all physical therapy services rendered, including assessments and discharge summaries.
• Completes necessary charge and statistical information to reflect services rendered accurately.
• Provides verbal and/or written home instructions to patients and/or family members when applicable.
• Schedules patients to maintain productivity levels that meet or exceed established standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
• Active license in practicing state required.
• CPR certification required based on AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Physical Therapist (PT) license.
• Act 33 clearance with renewal.
• Act 34 clearance with renewal.
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
