Physical Therapist- Flex/PRN- Inpatient Rehab

About the position

The Physical Therapist position at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital is a PRN/Flex role focused on inpatient rehabilitation. The therapist will confirm and interpret physician referrals, perform patient assessments, and plan and implement individualized treatment programs tailored to the patient's developmental and/or chronological age and medical diagnoses. Responsibilities include providing patient care based on physician referrals, coordinating patient care through communication with various healthcare team members, documenting in medical records, supervising PTAs, and participating in departmental activities.

Responsibilities

• Confirms and interprets physician referrals.
• Performs patient assessments and plans individualized treatment programs.
• Provides patient care based on physician referral and age-appropriate assessment.
• Coordinates patient care and clinical activities through communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Documents in the patient's medical record and completes patient care-related forms.
• Supervises PTAs and collaborates with therapy staff and volunteers.
• Participates in departmental/professional activities as requested.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy.
• Bachelor's degree as Physical Therapist and 5 years of experience, OR Master's or Doctorate degree required.
• Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia by the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy.
• AHA BLS-certified within six months of employment.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service, and teamwork skills required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in site-specific level of care preferred but not required.
• One year of clinical experience required for Home Health positions.
