About the position

The Physical Therapist - Float Pool position at Sparrow Health System involves evaluating patients, planning treatment programs, and performing physical therapy procedures to restore function and improve quality of life. This role requires flexibility as it covers both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, with a primary focus on outpatient areas. The position offers a sign-on bonus and additional hourly compensation for float duties.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess patient's functional status including range of motion, strength, reflexes, tone, posture, gait, and sensorimotor function.
• Develop realistic, functional goals in collaboration with the patient and their family.
• Educate patients and their families on skills that promote functional restoration of mobility.
• Perform treatment according to the established plan using various modalities and techniques.
• Document assessment, treatment plans, and patient responses in the patient record.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care and rehabilitation programs.
• Participate in case conferences, care rounds, and family meetings to progress patient rehabilitation goals.
• Re-evaluate patients and assess their progress, making recommendations for discharge planning.
• Maintain professional standards through participation in inservices and hospital requirements.
• Delegate, direct, and supervise care implementation to PTA, PCT, and physical therapy students.

Requirements

• State of Michigan PT licensure.
• BLS Certification (within 6 months of hire).
• Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks and adapt to changing work situations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in physical disabilities is preferred.
• Experience in intensive care unit.
