About the position

The Physical Therapist position is a full-time role focused on providing evaluation and individualized treatment to residents, particularly children, with various medical diagnoses. The therapist will be responsible for maintaining documentation, attending care plan meetings, and providing clinical supervision to PT students. The role emphasizes collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evaluation and treatment to residents with a variety of medical diagnoses.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations of residents upon request of a physician.
  • Complete necessary documentation including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Provide monthly PT statistics in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate PT treatment programs with interdisciplinary staff for continuity of care.
  • Monitor maintenance of adaptive equipment and refer to policies as needed.
  • Report on child's level of function and progress at interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families and interdisciplinary staff regarding resident care.
  • Participate in in-service training programs and assist in educating interdisciplinary staff.
  • Serve as a clinical instructor for PT students during their affiliation at the Center.
  • Provide therapy sessions in the hydrotherapy pool program once CPR certified.
  • Upgrade skills through attendance at professional seminars and courses.
  • Establish communication with outside school therapists and disseminate information at care meetings.
  • Carry out standards for customer service, quality improvement, and compliance with Center policies.
  • Maintain daily attendance records and complete monthly statistics.
  • Attend interdisciplinary meetings and provide updates on resident care plans.
  • Conduct home visit evaluations as necessary for discharge or relevant situations.
  • Participate in New Hire Orientation Program providing educational programs on various topics.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or doctorate in Physical Therapy
  • NYS P.T. License
  • NYS P.T. Registration Certification
  • CPR Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of pediatric PT experience preferred
  • Completion of a pediatric clinical affiliation
  • Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language
  • Ability to meet health standards established by NYDOH and regulatory agencies
  • Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
  • Ability to assist in the evacuation of residents if necessary
